In this article from the great blog ( Art of Manliness), the author points out that a man's making is never shown until he faces his challenges,
A really inspiring thought, as only trials can bring you to throw away your conventional ways and seek to further elevate yourself ... or does it??
Why do you have to wait for trouble before getting better at what you do?
I think this way of thinking is counter-creative, as it presumes you only get higher by facing obstacles.
When properly nurtured, creativity can push you higher on your own. A creative mindset is restless, always looking for new stuff to make, and always finding value in what others oversee as valueless. A creative mindset let's you work on solutions "just for the thrill of it" and without the stress of hardship of tough challenges (not that challenges are not welcome, after all I'm a fighter too!).
So, challenges or not, I'm getting better either way :)
